UPDATE: ETFO’s 2023 All-Member Violence Survey

ETFO’s 2023 All-Member Violence Survey is an opportunity to share your experience with violence in schools. The deadline has been extended to 5:00 p.m. on March 22.

We would appreciate it if everyone could take a few moments to complete the survey. Violence in our schools is a growing issue and ETFO will use the data collected to raise public awareness and advocate for change.

50-Day Reemployment Rule Increase

Are you currently in receipt of pension?  The Ontario Teachers’ Federation has agreed to temporarily increase the 50-day reemployment rule to 95-days until June 30, 2023. 

This measure will help in a limited manner to address some of the teacher shortages we’re currently experiencing in Ontario’s publicly funded schools.

ETFO calls for government to address mental health crisis in schools

TORONTO, ON – In new data released today by People for Education, principals report that students and school staff are under “severe stress,” and that mental health and well-being are their top priorities. The Elementary Teachers’ Federation of Ontario (ETFO) continues to call on the province to provide adequate mental health resources and funding, and on school boards to deliver the comprehensive supports educators and students need.

All ETFO Algoma Occasional Teachers are invited to join a telephone town hall event to receive an update on central collective bargaining. There will be an opportunity to ask questions.

Wednesday, March 1 from 6:30 – 7:30p.m.

Re-Thinking White Privilege

In conjunction with ETFO presenter Velvet Lacasse, the Local will be hosting an ETFO Equity workshop called “Re-Thinking White Privilege”.

Wednesday, March 29
Boreal French Immersion PS (Communication Room 241)
4:30 – 7:00 p.m.

This workshop will take an exploratory look at white privilege in order to provide educators with the opportunity to build awareness and understanding. Opportunities will be provided to enter into professional dialogue in regards to addressing privilege in themselves and in the classroom.

This event has been cancelled due to low registration.

Devenir Correcteur DELF

Le conseil scolaire Algoma DSB prévoit ajouter quelques enseignants à son groupe d’examinateurs-correcteurs du DELF scolaire. Un stage d’entraînement initial de 4 jours aura lieu à North Bay très prochainement, soit le 28 février-1er mars ainsi que le 7-8 mars.

To view and apply to job postings, update your availability calendar, and accept daily call-outs, you must log in to your account at adsb.simplication.com.  

Use the same username and password that you used for your Apply To Education account.  The only thing that has changed is that you now log in through a new website URL.  We recommend that you update your browser bookmarks and password manager apps.
